Pull-Up (Wide Grip)

A pull-up variation performed with a wide, overhand grip to emphasize the upper lats and back.

How to do it

  1. Grip pull-up bar with hands wider than shoulders, palms overhand.
  2. Hang with arms fully extended and core tight.
  3. Pull chest up to bar, driving elbows down and out.
  4. Pause at the top, squeeze back muscles.
  5. Lower down slowly to full extension.

Form cues

  • Keep elbows flared out
  • Lead with chest
  • Engage lats
  • Avoid swinging

Common mistakes

  • Partial reps
  • Using momentum
  • Shrugging shoulders

Breathing

Exhale as you pull up, inhale as you lower down.
