Lying Quadriceps Stretch

A stretch for the quadriceps performed lying on the stomach for maximal knee flexion.

How to do it

  1. Lie on your stomach with legs extended.
  2. Bend one knee, bringing heel toward glute.
  3. Reach back and grasp ankle with hand.
  4. Gently pull heel closer to glute until a stretch is felt.
  5. Hold, then switch sides.

Form cues

  • Knees together
  • Relax neck
  • Do not force
  • Hips flat

Common mistakes

  • Pulling too hard
  • Letting pelvis lift
  • Knee splaying out

Breathing

Exhale as you pull, inhale to release.
