Leg Raise with Hip Lift

A core exercise combining a leg raise with a hip lift to target the lower abdominals.

How to do it

  1. Lie flat with arms at your sides and legs straight.
  2. Raise your legs up together towards the ceiling.
  3. At the top of the movement, press your legs up by lifting your hips off the ground.
  4. Pause, squeezing your abs.
  5. Lower your hips and legs back to the starting position slowly.

Form cues

  • Keep legs together
  • Don’t swing
  • Lift hips with control
  • Keep back flat

Common mistakes

  • Using momentum
  • Arching lower back
  • Not controlling the descent

Breathing

Exhale during hip lift, inhale during the descent.
