Barbell Underhand Bent-Over Row

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet hip-width apart, barbell on floor.
  2. Bend forward from hips, back straight, grasp bar underhand.
  3. Let bar hang at arm’s length below shoulders.
  4. Row barbell to torso, elbows close to sides.
  5. Lower barbell under control to starting position.

Form cues

  • Keep back flat
  • Pull with elbows
  • Squeeze shoulder blades
  • Keep wrists neutral

Common mistakes

  • Rounding lower back
  • Flaring elbows excessively
  • Using momentum

Breathing

Exhale as you row up, inhale as you lower down.
