Stairs Calf Stretch

A stretch performed using stairs to lengthen and increase flexibility in the calf muscles.

How to do it

  1. Stand with the balls of your feet on a step or stair.
  2. Support yourself with a railing, wall, or sturdy object.
  3. Lower your heels slowly below the step to feel a stretch in your calves.
  4. Hold the stretch for 15-30 seconds.
  5. Raise heels back up and repeat as desired.

Form cues

  • Keep knees straight but not locked
  • Lower heels gradually
  • Engage core for balance
  • Avoid bouncing

Common mistakes

  • Letting heels drop too fast
  • Rounding your back
  • Bouncing during stretch

Breathing

Exhale as you lower into the stretch, inhale as you return.
