Overhead Chest Stretch

A static stretch that opens the chest by extending the arms overhead and pulling back.

How to do it

  1. Stand upright with feet hip-width apart.
  2. Interlace fingers and stretch arms straight overhead.
  3. Gently pull arms back behind head.
  4. Squeeze shoulder blades together.
  5. Hold the stretch for 15-30 seconds.

Form cues

  • Keep arms straight
  • Open the chest
  • Maintain tall posture
  • Avoid arching lower back

Common mistakes

  • Hyperextending lower back
  • Bending elbows
  • Letting shoulders shrug

Breathing

Breathe deeply and steadily throughout the stretch.
