Cable Rope Overhead Triceps Extension

An isolation exercise using a rope attachment on a high pulley to target the triceps overhead.

How to do it

  1. Attach a rope to a high pulley.
  2. Stand (or kneel) with back facing the machine.
  3. Grasp rope, step forward, and lean slightly.
  4. Keep upper arms still, extend elbows bringing rope forward/upward.
  5. Return to starting position slowly.

Form cues

  • Keep upper arms stationary
  • Elbows close
  • Extend fully
  • Avoid arching back

Common mistakes

  • Moving upper arms
  • Flaring elbows
  • Arching or swinging back

Breathing

Exhale as you extend, inhale as you bend elbows.
