Butterfly Yoga Pose

A seated stretch that opens the hips and groin by bringing the feet together and letting the knees fall outward.

How to do it

  1. Sit upright with feet together and knees bent out to sides.
  2. Hold your feet with your hands.
  3. Keep spine tall and shoulders relaxed.
  4. Gently press knees toward the floor.
  5. Hold the position, breathing deeply.

Form cues

  • Keep chest tall
  • Relax the hips
  • Don't force knees down
  • Engage core lightly

Common mistakes

  • Rounding the back
  • Bouncing knees
  • Forcing knees down
